Engineering Services

NATECH Environmental Services Inc. is a progressive consulting engineering firm. We offer a wide variety of engineering services to suit your needs.

Waste Water Treatment and Disposal

NATECH offers many design services for waste water treatment. These include:

  • Septic systems and on-site disposal fields including:
    • leaching galleys
    • Pipe in stone fields
    • Infiltration chambers
    • Enviro-septic systems
  • Constructed and engineered wetlands
  • Sewage treatment lagoons
  • Design of mechanical component (aerators, pumps, controllers, etc)

Bathymetric Surveys

Surveys of water bodies. Sludge accumulation in wastewater treatment lagoons.

Mathematical Modeling

We use sophisticated mathematical models to predict flows, currents and water quality. Routinely we apply models to the following scenarios:

  • Diffuser design
  • River and tidal flows
  • Water quality
  • Effluent plume dilution
  • Industrial facility design

UVA Drone Photography and LIDAR Mapping

We create high-resolution maps for monitoring of sites, showing future land use changes, land development or measuring quantities of material piles.  Drone and LIDAR surveys provide easy, fast and accurate aerial data acquisition that will enable you to take informed and targeted action. Drone or LIDAR surveys provide valuable information to developers, farmers, construction, mining, and land and resource management, or for gathering data for any area that needs to be looked at closely and frequently.   Flights can be repeated as often as you need, and we can compare and overlay the resulting data in animations over time.

Mapping

Our mapping department presents spacial information in two and three dimension formats. We also model information using a variety of GIS software suites.

Assimilative Capacity

Assimilative capacity studies determine the maximum concentration in various contaminants that an effluent can have before it is released in a water body, without impacting wildlife. The Canadian Water Quality Guidelines and CCME guidelines are used as a reference for such calculations.

NATECH has developed techniques to perform mixing zone delineations (evaluate the spread and dilution of effluent plumes for any size of water body) in the field, coupled with computer models to predict plume behaviour in low-flow situations. A benign dye is used to record effluent dilutions in the field.

The dye can be detected in river and ocean water in concentrations as low as 1:1,000,000,000 (one to one billion) dilution. This cost effective methodology in also used to measure flows, infiltration, leakage, contamination, groundwater migration, residence times, short circuiting in pipes, tanks and open water bodies.

Other Services

NATECH also provides many other services, including:

  • Design of drinking water treatment plants
  • Storm water management systems
  • Design of recreational facilities
  • Environmental Impact Assessment studies
  • Phase 1 & 2 Site Assessments
  • Interpretation of legislative requirements
  • Liaison with regulatory agencies
  • Laboratory experiments and testing
  • Inspection of facilities
